Approach and Methodology

Psychotherapy is a path of growth and learning that goes beyond simply solving the immediate problem that brings you to therapy. It teaches you to reflect, understand yourself, and help yourself face your current and future challenges. It guides you in the search and construction of a different perspective from which to relate to the world, others, and yourself, contributing to your ability to choose how to approach your life from a deeper knowledge of who you are and what you need.

Although we are not responsible for the circumstances that affect us, we are responsible for offering ourselves new opportunities and paths for our growth. Although we don’t choose what happens to us, we must provide ourselves with new alternatives and opportunities to move forward. We cannot judge our history, path, and decisions from the present. There is a tendency to value our life from the present, criticizing how we handled past moments, without considering who we were, our circumstances, emotions, knowledge, and resources at that time, as they were not the same as those from which we intend to judge them now.

Individualized/Focused Psychotherapy

We will carry out information gathering sessions, evaluation and initial analysis that will help to focus the therapy on the characteristics, resources and specific needs of each person.During these sessions, the creation of an essential link is encouraged in order to generate an emotionally safe environment, from where the person feels that he/she can look at painful experiences without value judgments, criticism or added embarrassment..

In this way, a more personalized therapeutic path and support is established, based on the individual’s history, identifying and addressing specific and concrete issues, understanding their origin, and employing strategies tailored to each circumstance.

The goal is to improve overall emotional well-being through tailored interventions, working from attachment and facilitating meaningful changes in daily life, adapting it to the pace that each individual needs.

Emotional Trauma & EMDR

The word trauma comes from Greek and means "wound." When we talk about trauma in psychology, we are not only referring to the event itself, but to how a person was impacted by it, the wound that the event creates, and how the body reacts to it.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic technique used to desensitize and reprocess traumas and emotionally painful and impactful experiences. Through bilateral hemispheric stimulation, either through eye movements or with sounds or touches (tapping), this technique facilitates the reintegration and processing of traumatic memories.

EMDR must go hand in hand with a therapeutic process that allows for meaning, understanding, and compassion about the vital impact that traumatic events have on a person's life, as well as reintegrating them physically. EMDR is endorsed by the World Health Organization and the International Clinical Guidelines for trauma treatment, and has been recognized as an effective approach for PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) by the APA (American Psychological Association). This process helps reduce the emotional intensity associated with these memories, allowing these experiences to be integrated in a way that lessens their impact and the meaning attached to them is no longer limiting or disabling.

Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy

Child and adolescent psychotherapy involves a multifocal approach with the children and teenagers, as well as with their families and environment. It is about observing and understanding the impact of different contexts on the minors, using age-appropriate methods and approaches for the patient's stage of development.

Just like in adult therapy, a gathering of information, analysis, andinitial evaluation is necessary, which will help build a therapeutic process that is as tailored and focused as possible. This therapy includes work with parents and caregivers, who are essential pillars in a child’s development. The goal is to provide a safe and understanding environment where children and adolescents can explore their emotions and develop skills to face their challenges, while also supporting parents and caregivers through the different stages of child and adolescent development.

Psychosomatic Psychotherapy

Sometimes, a medical condition is the cause of an emotional discomfort; other times, our emotional discomfort manifests through our body. When we talk about psychosomatics, we refer to understanding how our body, our emotions, and our rational mind interact as a whole, with the need to understand all of them in order to grasp their different languages.

Integrating this diverse information is essential for understanding ourselves. Our body and emotions send us valuable information about how we are, what we’ve experienced, and what we need. When this communication doesn’t flow properly, we often find that the body speaks in its own way. The emotions and experiences we have need to be expressed, but when words are unavailable, silenced, or when expression is not allowed, they seek a way out, often through manifestations we don’t understand, but to which we must pay attention.
